The Polestars Human Machine Interface (HMI) is designed to give the driver the vital information only when it's needed. The designers at Polestar have pushed back on the growing trend of vivid, colourful, gamified screens, disguised by marketing as "improving the in-car experience". Instead they focus on the driver and the driving experience, removing the distractions making it easier to see the road in darkened driving conditions.
The HMI featured in the Polestar takes a different approach, using eye-tracking and proximity sensors to adjust the displays to the driver's movements which enables the interface to deliver the right information at the right time.
The interface is built on an Android-based system with Google's industry-leading navigation and voice recognition software.
